Residence - Integrity
53 Bellerine Street is a substantially intact double fronted Late Victorian residence retaining a weatherboard facade, fine iron lacework details and a convex verandah with an unusual central pediment element. The facade features typical openings including a central four panel door with highlights and sidelights and double hung sash windows with sidelights. The corrugated iron hipped roof has been recently clad and has two tall corbelled chimneys. Small timber eaves brackets decorate the fascia. The verandah has fine iron columns, iron frieze and brackets. The building forms a pair with the adjacent building at 51 Bellerine Street, and has the same form, early timber fence and similar Victorian Italianate details. At the rear of the building is a later hipped addition which is difficult to view from the street.
