Stephens House - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
Like 11 Connor Street, this house has a minor 'spire' set on a bay tower towards the rear of the house verandah. With its half-timbered projecting gables, high-hipped roof and return timber-detailed verandah, the house is of the Federation Bungalow style, showing both the influenced of the Indian and Asian colonial bungalows and Tudor England. From the Far East, the horn-like timber brackets which support porch and window hoods also have the English Arts & Crafts fretted onion motif built into their design. Other exotic elements are the slatted verandah friezes.
EXTERNAL INTEGRITY
Generally original except for removal of the fence
STREETSCAPE
