Heritage Inventory Description
POLLY COATES HOTEL SITE - Heritage Inventory Description
An old overgrown but driveable track cuts south off Binns road and after ~50meters reveals a small clearing on both sides of the track. Vegetation is in the initial stages of regrowth but the site is still recognisable with low, thin vegetation and significant areas of bare ground and is yet to conceal artefacts. The site is marked by an old wooden signpost with 'binns' engraved into it. This sign was erected by the 1970's forest commission. In the vicinity of the signpost and several meters into the surrounding areas there is substantial artefact scatter. Artefacts included broken glass, horse shoes, old nails, chain links and a variety of metal object - some of which were indistinguishable on site. No building debris was detected in initial surveys however evidence may still remain sub-surface.
