STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCEHistorically, inhabited by the middle and professional classes, but it is more identifiable as the St. Margaret's Private Hospital, a locally prominent institution.
Architecturally, an unusual building type for Geelong, which has been detailed in a distinctive manner, particularly the verandah.

Neimke Row Houses - Physical Description 1
An Italianate styled row house pair, these houses are constructed of decorative, coloured brickwork and linked by an ornate cast-iron verandah, adorned with a central arch. Possessing typical details for the style, including corniced chimneys, eaves brackets, panelled door side and top lights, the pair nevertheless an unusual form-type in Geelong. Judged within a wider area, the pair are larger than typical Melbourne row houses and configured more as two attached villas.
Neimke Row Houses - Physical Description 2
Mostly intact, mirrored pair, polychrome brick with diaper quoining & basalt plinth, hipped roof clad in corrugated metal sheeting (appears to have previously been slate with roof vents - refer 1926 aerial), polychrome brick chimneys with rendered capping, decorative cornice beneath eaves (with later vents). Verandah with central barrel vaulted section, cast iron frieze, timber deck. Timber sash windows (tripartite to projecting end bays), 4 panelled timber doors with highlight & sidelights, Fence with distinctive cast iron sections.
