Residence - Physical Description 1
462 Ryrie Street is a double storey timber Federation residence with notable details and high degree of integrity. The asymmetrical facade feature prominent gables, on facing each street front. A wide verandah with curvilinear Art Nouveau fretwork and carved timber posts wraps around the building. A casement window is positioned on the corner beneath the Federation style return verandah. Similar windows are found beneath the gables and on the east facade, and a circular timbered effect feature in the gable infill. The garden and front fence enhance the buildings contribution to the streetscape. The building stands on a substantial brick plinth. Tall chimneys with render details and terracotta pots protrude from the corrugated iron roof. A hipped roof lantern also extends from the roof and appears to be a later addition. A timber skillion is attached to the rear of the house.
