Office - Physical Description 1
479 Ryrie Street is a brick late Federation residence showing some Bungalow influences with a high degree of integrity. The asymmetrical double fronted facade features prominent gables at the front and side, a central entrance, a Federation style return verandah, and a large corrugated iron hip roof. Notable details include the roof ventilator and unusual carved timber verandah posts positioned on a lower brick and concrete verandah balustrade. The gables feature pressed metal and timber infill and decorative barge boards. The windows consist of pairs of narrow double hung sash windows. Cream rendered string courses and bands wrap around the facades. At the rear of the residence is a skillion which is appropriate to the style of the building. Other details include the brick and render chimneys and the unusual ridge capping. The fence at the front of the house is a later addition.
