STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The former "Corio Chambers" buildings was erected as a two-storey brick establishment in 1890, for Geelong solicitors, Robinson and Douglass. The architect is presently unknown. This building is an early example of the English Queen Anne Revival in Victoria and is strongly modeled on the work of English architect, Richard Norman Shaw. The ornamentation and facade details are of great interest. The building is located in an area of Yarra Street traditionally associated with the legal profession.
