Statement of Significance
C Listed - Local Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCESt Leonards Primary School was built in 1910 in Federation style of brick construction and has remained relatively unaltered. It is now located within a complex of school buildings.
St Leonards Primary School is of social and historic value to the local St Leonards community
It has been the only local educational facility for the St Leonards community for over 120 years. St Leonards Primary School of 1910 is the second school on this site. The earlier weatherboard oneroom building opened in 1874 served the small and modest farming and fishing communities at St Leonards, Murradoc and Paywit North. The brick building of 1910 represented the more established nature of St Leonards after the turn of the century.
It is of LOCAL cultural significance .

St Leonards Primary School - Physical Description 1
Description
The complex of school buildings is sited on the corner of Murradoc Rd and Wattletree Ave, with mature cypress trees on the south boundary.
The older school building is a freestanding single storey brick structure, with a steep pitch gable root, running eastwest, and clad in corrugated iron.
The west elevation features two pairs of offcentre timber framed, multipaned double hung windows with openable toplights. It has plain timber bargeboards on the gable end, with decorative timber strutwork and a louvered vent
The south elevation has four timber framed, multipaned, openable clerestorey windows under the eave line.
The building appears relativley unaltered, with new spouting and downpipes, and probably new corrugated metal cladding on the roof.
