The Grand Hotel at Portarlington, a three storey brick and render hotel with central tower was apparently c1885 to cater for the burgeoning tourist trade on the Bellarine Peninsula in the 1880s. the architect for this historically significant hotel is not yet identified, but the building survives essentially intact but without the elegant cast iron verandah to the three floors. The structure has notable historical associations with the leisure and hospitality industry and is a dominant town landmark.
