Residence "Bayview" - Physical Description 1
The large rural site has several mature trees, including a huge Norfolk pine and a palm tree. The building is set back off the Portarlington Road, with extensive foliage, and originally would have had an excellent view across Port Phillip Bay.
The double-fronted, late Victorian style house has a hipped and gable roof, clad in corrugated iron. It is a timber frame and weatherboard clad structure, with two projecting gables flanking a central verandah on the north elevation.
The north elevation gables have decorative timber bargeboards, finials and pendants with a timber frame, low-light double hung window in the centre.
The north elevation verandah has a separate corrugated iron clad roof, with turned timber posts and extensive cast iron lacework and brackets. The verandah features a gable entrance with the same cast iron decoration. The house has a central timber doorway, with a timber frame, double-hung window either side.
