Statement of Significance
The Olle Residence is located n the south side of Bell Street, between Hutton and Kennedy Streets on the west side of the township of Penshurst. The residence dates from the Victorian period, and is a vernacular, symmetrical, single-storey timber house with a verandah on three sides. The house has been associated with the Olle family, who have been important general merchants, butchers, bakers and grocers in Penshurst since the mid nineteenth century. The family have been well represented on a number of local boards, including the Mount Rouse Shire Council. There has been no architect or builder associated with the design of the house. The house is in good condition with a high degree of integrity.

The Olle Residence at 143-5 Bell Street is of historical significance to the Southern Grampians Shire and to the township of Penshurst.

The Olle Residence is of historical significance for its connections with the Olle family, long term residents of Penshurst and important merchants in the town. The house is still in its traditional ownership.

OLLE RESIDENCE - Physical Description 1
The Olle residence is a simple, symmetrical, single-storey timber house with a verandah on three sides. The front four panelled door has fan and side lights. The front windows are single paned double hung sashes. The verandah is timber and has a bullnose roof of corrugated iron. The main roof is hipped with a central valley to the rear and is corrugated iron. The original chimneys appear to have been removed. There is a simple picket fence on the street boundary.
