Residence - Physical Description 1
The site at 11 Grove Road is visually connected to other single storey, pitched roof houses of mixed styles and periods. This house has a substantial front setback and typical side setbacks, with a driveway along the side. These setbacks are shown on the 1973 BHSA Plan of Drainage.6 The front is bound by a recent post and wire fence, with metal framed gates, and is approximately 1100mm high. The single storey, horizontal weatherboard Late Victorian vernacular house is characterised by a gable roof form that traverses the site, together with a concave front verandah and side projection of a recent extension at the rear. The roofs are clad in corrugated colorbond. A painted brick chimney of c.1916-17 adorns the roofline. Early timber framed double hung single windows are situated under the verandah and possibly at the side, while the paired, timber framed double hung windows at the front appear to be recent. The central, front panelled timber door may be early.A feature of the design is the front verandah. It is supported by recent? worked timber columns with decorative timber brackets.
