Statement of Significance
At 17 Long Street, Leongatha, the decorative elements of the property remain, including cast iron brackets and the wrapping of the verandah around the street side of the house. There is a limited skillion section at the rear of the building along with a gabled weatherboard shed.
10 Roughead Street, is an early brick building and has been painted.
Non-original alterations and additions are not significant.
10 Roughead Street is believed to be the oldest extant brick dwelling in Leongatha and a rare early example of a brick dwelling within the Shire, due to the poor availability of brick materials prior to World War I. (Criteria A and F)
Aesthetically, these buildings are somewhat altered, however they significantly contribute to the historic character of Long Street and Roughead Street, and the northern part of Leongatha. (Criterion E)
