BRUNSWICK FREE KINDERGARTEN - Physical Description 1
Brunswick Free Kindergarten at 61 Glenlyon Road Brunswick consists of two main buildings. The earlier building is a brick building with a prominent parapeted gable with Art Deco influences in the simple moulded decoration. The upper section of the front facade is rendered and ruled in an ashlar pattern. The lower section, below a narrow string course, is painted face brick. A name plate marks the building as Brunswick Free Kindergarten.
The two box-framed windows are a dominant feature of the main facade. Each window is a triple-light, and each section has three distinct sections: a large hopper window, a middle section with crossed glazing bars and a highlight window. Above each is a row of three small windows.
The eastern wall is face brick that has been painted. It has three triple-light windows with detailing similar for those on the main facade. The western wall is weatherboard, and a bathroom block links the 1929 building to the 1954-55 cream brick playroom building to the west.
Internally, original fittings and fixtures such as wooden benches and fireplace (no longer in use) are said to survive. A tree planted in 1930s is said to remain in the large playground on the northern side of the block.BRUNSWICK FREE KINDERGARTEN - Physical Conditions
