LOMOND HOTEL - Physical Description 1
The Lomond Hotel is a three storey Victorian hotel, on the corner of Nicholson and Blyth Streets. The main, and most decorated, facade is to Nicholson Street. The Blyth Street facade has a large indent (as a lightwell would).
The hotel is painted render; the roof is hidden behind a low plain parapet with a decorative cornice at its base. To the ground floor are a series of round arched windows varying in size, including a small cornerwise window which bears the words 'LOMOND HOTEL' above. The larger ground floor arched windows have timber tracery. First floor windows are either single double-hung windows or tripartite windows with smaller double-hung sashes flanking the larger central window. The central window is topped by a pediment. Each of these windows has a small section of 'balustrading' inserted at its base. Windows at second floor level are plainer round arched double-hung sash windows. All windows within the Blyth Street indent - to ground, first and second floor - are plain double hung sash windows. There is decorative moulding to each level, string courses between the levels, and around the window surrounds.LOMOND HOTEL - Physical Conditions
