Statement of Significance
This house, originally known as No 1 Rich-Hill Terrace, was built in 1862 for John Harbison, a Melbourne City Councillor and M L A It was the birthplace of General Sir John Monash, famous soldier and engineer.
The house, which is one of a group of four 2 storey terraced houses, has had considerable alterations to both the front and the rear and these are not included.
