Statement of Significance
Built in 1888 to commemorate Dr Aubrey Bowen who, in 1873, amalgamated his Opthalmic and Orthopaedic Institution with the Eye and Ear Hospital (founded 1863) to form the Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. It is the oldest surviving purpose-built wing of the institution and an important element of the Morrison Place precinct.
