Statement of Significance
Victoria's most prominent synagogue, in a style of twentieth century Baroque classicism with a Corinthian portico and striking copper dome suggestive of the compostition of Palladio's Villa Capra.
It was built in 1928-30 to the design of Nahum Barnet and is in very intact condition, with a richly designed interior in traditional form, including a women's gallery.
