Statement of Significance
A well-preserved single storey square brick building constructed in 1937 for Hartley Pty Ltd. The building is chiefly notable as the first in Victoria built specifically for bicycle manufacture, for the decorative brickwork inset into the stepped parapets and symbolizing the wheels of a bicycle, and as the basis for comparison with Bruce Small's factory in Clarendon Street which was constructed shortly afterwards.
