Statement of Significance
Built about 1859 by William Kerr Thomson, a prominent Brighton citizen and partner in James McEwan & Co., this single storey brick residence with attractive cast iron trim to the verandah was known as Greenfield. The name was changed to Tullavin when the house was occupied in 1894 by James Smibert, Deputy Post Master General. Miscellaneous additions to the rear of the house are excluded from the Classification but the separate two storey brick stable building is included in the Classification.
