Statement of Significance
An incomplete bluestone church built in 1871 to the design of George Browne and of interest for stylistic details of the west front. These include the star tracery at the head of the five light west window and the superimposed colonettes of the flanking buttresses. Browne was to introduce similar colonettes in this secular non-Gothic work as part of an innovative and eclectic palette which presages the boom style. The interior incorporates a hammer-beam roof, elaborate plaster corbels, cedar joinery and windows by Ferguson & Urie. The cast iron openwork gate pier and palisade fence remain intact.
