Statement of Significance
A rare example in Victoria of the finely proportioned symmetrical building recalling the clarity and fine detailing of the Regency Style, more usually seen in Tasmania. The building is faced with freestone on the main portion.
Special note is made of the Ionic entrance portico of exquisite proportions, and the encircling wrought iron verandah of Regency inspiration is probably in its extent and uniqueness of design unchallenged in the State and stands in contrast to the later ubuquitous cast iron type. Reference is made to the elegant proportions of the main rooms.
