Statement of Significance
Thebridge waserected c 1857when the Melbourne-Sydney road was planned to go through the town. It is constructed of rusticated granite blocks and comprises a single stilted segmental arch flanked on both sides by attached piers.
This is a notable example of nineteenth century bridge design. It is well constructed and demonstrates the high quality workmanship of the local stonemasons. The fine local stone is a notable feature. The structure is articulated by rusticated piers, voussoirs and string courses.
The bridge is still in use and is in a sound structural condition.
