Statement of Significance
Findon Hill constructed c1875 as the residence of W H Hood, manager of a Piper Street store, is of State significance as one of Victoria's finest Gothic style dwellings. This tiny two-storeyed residence constructed of local bluestone with a gabled slate roof and wide eaves is notable for its pointed arched stone porch and fine detailing. On an elevated site Findon Hill is a prominent feature on the fringe of town in a picturesque garden. The property's singificance is enhanced by the double-storeyed timber stables, one of just a handful in the Shire.
