Statement of Significance
Riverdale was built by Mark Tucker in 1875 on part of land sold to John Mason in 1855 and used by the latter as a timber yard and workshop. On completion the building was let to two doctors who called it Listowel House. Mark Tucker moved into the house in 1878 and lived there until his death in 1895. During this period it was known as Riverdale Cottage.
Riverdale is a two-storied, symmetrical house with a double-storied verandah, which may be original or may have been added. The present verandah also appears to have been altered. Features of the building are its window and door mouldings.
