Statement of Significance
Four residences were built in 1906 to the same plan at Lorne, Newbridge, Wychitella and Addington (known as Ercildoun prior to 1912).
The two storey timber framed building was designed by the Public Works Department with a Swiss Chalet influence as requested by the then Minister of Public Instruction (now Minister for Education).
The mock half timbered panels on the first floor are still visible in a photograph taken in 1935. All four houses have since been covered in either asbestos sheeting or weatherboard and all have had various alterations and additions.
In 1935 the residence which has been erected at Wychitella was moved a distance of about 15 miles by road and was re-erected in Charlton.
