Statement of Significance
Horticultural Value:
A tree which is of horticultural or genetic value and could be an important source of propagating stock, including specimens that are particularly resistant to disease or exposure.

A tree of a species or vareity that is rare or of very localised distribution.
Curious Growth Form:
A tree which exhibits a curious growth form or physical feature such as abnormal outgrowths, natural fusion of branches, severe lightning damage or unusually pruned forms.
One of a pair of remnant plantings by JC Cole in the 1870 - 1880s. A rare species, these two trees are the only examples of the species in cultivation in Victoria. This particular specimen has developed an unusual growth form with very tortuous branches - one measuring 17.6 m.
This tree is located S-W of the house, east of Clematis Creek.
