Statement of Significance
Location or Context:
A tree which occurs in a unique location or context and so provides a contribution to the landscape.
Rare or Localised:
A tree of a species or variety that is rare or of very localised distribution.
This species was planted around Victoria during the late 1800s. Examples are known to occur in Melbourne, Geelong, Kyneton and Bendigo. In Chile the massive trunks have long been felled as a source of sap yielding commercial palm honey and as such few wild stands remain.
