Although locally named the 'Burke and Wills Tree', there is no evidence supporting any association with the explorers. It is one of the largest Moreton Bay Fig (Ficus macrophylla) trees in Victoria, noted particularly for its canopy spread.
It is believed to have been planted in1862, but there are varying versions of the story relating to its planting
2008: Poor condition caused by drought and traffic stress
09/2013: Heavy pruning has taken place in order to save the tree.The tree has been mulched and a reticulation water system installed
