Contribution to the landscape of historic garden
Outstanding example of species
This almost perfect cone-shaped tree is a dominant feature in the landscape at the eastern end of the impressive stand of conifers which includes Cedrus atlantica f. glauca, Chamaecyparis lawsoniana and C. Lawsoniana 'Aurea'. The tree is the finest example known in cultivation in Victoria despite being multi-trunked near the top.
Located up driveway to left.
St Fillans was purchased by Sir James Munro (Premier of Victoria 1890-92) in the late 1880s and the planting is thought to be from this period.
