Curious growth form
A dominant feature of the main lawn, this tree has one main and 12 minor ascending branches giving it an octopus-like appearance. Cedrus deodara is native to the eastern Himalayas and among Hindu, is worshiped as a divine tree.
The garden dates from circa 1906, when the historic mansion 'Edrington' was built for pastoralist Samuel Mackay and passed to Lady Casey in 1934 remaining in her care to 1988.
