In the centre of a courtyard known as "Cussonia Court", bounded by the quadrangle, Law theatres, Old Arts and Old Physics. It was presumably planted by Professor Eward, Foundation Professor of the School of Botany, in the 1920s.
The tree suffered a major loss of its canopy in January 1985, when the eastern half of the tree collapsed after a storm.
The tree was removed in 1988 and replanted with a 5 year old specimen.
