Association with Aboriginal activities
This is the only scarred tree still living in the park; there are three other scarred stumps. The Melbourne Cricket Club have no information on the tree but at some stage a fence was erected around it and the following plaque added:
"Historical information indicates this Red Gum tree stump was originally the source of supply of bark used by aborigines for canoe making."
Planted nearby are specimens of Eucalyptus camaldulensis, the indigenous tree species.
Located between Gates 8 and 9, 100m from Grandstand.
