Statement of Significance
Contribution to landscape of historic park
Rare or localised
The tree is the only known mature example of this species in the area. Three others in Ballarat which were on the Register have died and been removed. This tree is not associated with the historic events of this site. No-one knows exactly where the Eureka Stokade was located as surviving documentary evidence is inconclusive. As the site was mined continuously before and after the uprising in 1854,archeological evidence is unlikely to survive.
