Horticultural value
Outstanding size
Outstanding aesthetic significance
Outstanding example of the species
Located in the Conifer Bed, this tree provides an important contribution to the Royal Botanic Gardens landscape, in particular the major entry point at Gate A on the corner of Anderson Street and Alexandra Avenue. The tree has great horticultural and aesthetic value and it is seemingly rare in cultivation in Victoria, certainly at this size and age. It is located within an important historic garden in Melbourne and exhibits excellent health and vigour. It is an outstanding example of this species and may be a good source of propagation material.
