Statement of Significance
Historically, it demonstrates the early residential development of Leongatha, and is part of a group of dwellings in McCartin Street that date from 1900 until the post war period.
Aesthetically, it is a substantially intact example of a late Victorian residence and is notable for being one of a pair with No. 82.

Carew - Physical Description 1
The dwelling at 84 McCartin Street is a double fronted Victorian weatherboard residence with an iron hip roof. The centrally located doorway with sidelights is flanked by tripartite windows. The convex front verandah is supported on timber posts with cast iron brackets. It appears to be identical to the adjoining dwelling at No. 82 and was probably constructed at the same time, if not by the same builder.
