This place is included on the Victorian Heritage Inventory, for its potential to contain historical archaeological remains associated with the settlement and growth of early Melbourne. Under the terms of the Heritage Act 2017 there is protection for all historical archaeology sites and objects in the state.

12-14 CELESTIAL AVENUE - Heritage Inventory Description
Sold as L-shaped block in combination with Nos.202-204 Little Bourke Street by Thomas Walker to Edward Fennessy in 1849. Leased to numerous Chinese occupants during C.19th & early C.20th. From 1865 2 x 3 room brick & timber houses. 1900-1905 houses joined into one of 6 rooms.1888 & 1905 maps - 1 storey building. Became warehouse after WWII. By 1982 in use as a factory.
