House, 10 Kings Avenue, ST ARNAUD - Physical Description 1
The house at 10 Kings Avenue forms part of a streetscape of single storey, predominantly pitched roof Victorian styled and interwar Bungalow styled houses.
The house has a frontage of approximately 6 metres, with a concrete pedestrian path, perimeter plantings and grassed areas.
The asymmetrical, single storey, unpainted pressed red brick, modest interwar Californian Bungalow styled house is characterised by a gable roof form that traverses the site, together with a minor gable and verandah gable that project towards the street frontage. These roof forms are clad in early red-painted and lapped galvanised corrugated iron. Two brick chimneys (recently painted) adorn the roofline. Wide overhangs with exposed timber rafters and large brackets are features of the eaves. The early timber framed windows have highlights and are arranged in banks of three. The timber framed doorway has an early timber panelled and glazed door, and early side and highlights.
A feature of the design is the elongated rendered brick piers with concrete cappings. These piers support tenuously positioned paired squat timber columns. An unpainted brick balustrade with a concrete capping forms the verandah boundary.
Other features of the design include the rendered lintels and window sills, gable ventilators and the stucco gable infill.
