House - 'Nella', 22 Allen Crescent, STAWELL - Physical Description 1
The house at 22 Allen Crescent, Stawell, has an open landscaped setting with a sizeable front setback. The surrounds are large comprised of open grassed areas with some trees and a hedge at the front. The front is also bound by an early timber and woven wire fence and gate, approximately 1300 mm high.
The symmetrical, single storey, horizontal timber weatherboard, Victorian styled house is characterised by a hipped roof form, together with a hipped return concave verandah that projects at the front and side. The returning nature of the verandah suggests that it has been altered and extended from its original design. The roof forms are clad in dark green painted galvanised corrugated steel. Two early painted brick chimneys with corbelled tops adorn the roofline. Narrow overhangs are features of the eaves.
The symmetry of the design is accentuated by the early central doorway (with four panelled timber door and highlight) and the flanking early timber framed double hung windows. The screen door has been introduced.
The front verandah is supported by introduced square columns and has introduced cast iron valances and brackets. There is also an introduced concrete slab verandah floor.
