Statement of Significance
The building at 78-82 Main Street, Stawell, is historically and architecturally significant at a CONTRIBUTORY level. It makes a significant contribution to the architectural and visual amenity of the predominantly 19th and early 20th century commercial streetscape. The form and rear sections of the building also contribute to the architectural amenity of the area. The single storey height, largely unpainted brick parapet with rendered and decorative central cappings, round and square pilasters parapet, incised rectangular title panels in the parapet, and the rear skillion roof form, face brick wall, and face brick chimney are those particular architectural elements that contribute to the amenity of the area.
