Two storey Commercial building, 100-102 Main Street STAWELL - Physical Description 1
The building at 100-102 Main Street, Stawell, contributes to the architectural and visual amenity of the predominantly Victorian and interwar streetscape.
The symmetrical, two storey, rendered brick, Victorian styled building is characterised by a simple parapet with a moulded capping and flanking consoles. The first floor is composed of four bays of timber framed double hung windows with moulded architraves and label moulds above.
Separating the first and ground floors is an introduced skillion verandah supported by square columns. There are two altered ground floor shopfronts with introduced aluminium framed shopfront windows and glazed tile surrounds.
Beyond the main facade is an early double hipped (M roof form) clad in galvanised corrugated iron, together with an early two storey wing with a parapeted gable end. These rear sections also have early timber framed double hung windows openings and painted brick wall construction. There is also an early single storey gabled wing with horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding.
