Shop, 119 Main Street, STAWELL - Physical Description 1
The building at 119 Main Street, Stawell, contributes to the architectural and visual amenity of the streetscape.
The narrow, single storey, face red brick and stuccoed, Federation Free style building is characterised by two arched openings adorned with moulded arched architraves. One opening has an altered timber framed window, with early twelve paned highlights. The other opening forms a porch with an early recessive timber framed doorway featuring an early twelve paned transom window with early decorative Art Nouveau leadlighting.
The building has an early dressed bluestone plinth, with brown wall tiles above. There is also early early brick dado mould and the face red brickwork finishes at the springing of the arched openings, above which is a stuccoed finish (recently overpainted purple-brown) and rendered horizontal band that is crowned by an altered, stuccoed and projecting parapet. The incised rectangular stuccoed panel in the parapet features two roundels.
The flanking piers at the sides of the building are also early and terminate with projecting stringcourses and arched rendered cappings.
The canvas hood over the window has been introduced, as has the projecting signage.
