House. 69 Patrick Street, STAWELL - Physical Description 1
The house at 69 Patrick Street, Stawell, is set on an averaged sized allotment for the area, with a typical front setback. The front comprises open grassed areas with side paved driveway, central concrete pedestrian path, perimeter garden beds and some exotic trees. The front is bound by an introduced tubular steel post and steel mesh fence that it approximately 1300 mm high. There are also open steel gates.
The asymmetrical, single storey, horizontal timber weatherboard, Edwardian styled house is characterised by a hipped roof form, together with a gable roof that projects towards the street frontage and a return bullnosed verandah that projects at the front and side. There is an introduced skillion addition at the rear. These roof forms are clad in galvanised corrugated iron. Narrow overhangs with paired timber brackets are features of the eaves.
A feature of the design is the return verandah. It is supported by introduced square timber columns having decorative timber brackets. The decorative framed timber fretwork valance may also have replaced an earlier valance.
Early features of the design include the front timber framed doorway with sidelights and highlights, timber framed double hung windows, and the decorative gable infill.
