It is associated with substantial residential developments in Stawell in the late 1950s, and it demonstrates original design qualities of the postwar Modern style. These qualities include the stepped cuboid forms with flat roofs and broadly projecting eaves. Other intact qualities include the asymmetrical composition, two storey height, cream brick wall construction, interplay of rectilinear wall planes further accentuated by the projecting flat random stone wall, large rectangular openings with timber frames and awning sashes, and the smaller square timber framed windows arranged in a grid-like fashion or in a row. The surrounding landscaping also contributes to the significance of the place.
