Statement of Significance
The house at 29 Skene Street, Stawell, makes a significant architectural and visual contribution to the predominantly late 19th and early 20th century residential area. It is significant at a CONTRIBUTORY level, being associated with residential developments in Stawell in the late 19th or early 20th century and it demonstrates some remnant and appropriate design qualities of a Late Victorian style. These qualities include the single storey height, symmetrical composition, hipped roof form, painted brick chimneys with projecting tops, galvanised corrugated steel roof cladding, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, timber framed windows and central timber door opening, projecting bullnosed verandah with fretwork valances and turned timber posts, and the narrow eaves with timber brackets, panelling and paterae.
