Statement of Significance
The house at 55 Smith Street, Stawell is of aesthetic significance at a CONTRIBUTORY level in the Stawell Seaby Street precinct. The building retains qualities of a characteristic inter war timber house. These qualities include the steeply pitched, corrugated steel clad hipped roof extending to form the front verandah roof, the gable roof over the projecting front room, the square edged weatherboard wall cladding, the timber gable end infill, the turned timber verandah posts and simple timber valence decoration, the triple casement banks of timber windows and the glazed and panelled front door and sidelights.
