Shop, 1 Victoria Place, STAWELL - Physical Description 1
The Insurance Brokers building is set on the corner of Victoria Place and Church Street, on the property boundaries. At the rear is a solid timber paling fence, approximately 1600 mm high.
The single storey, painted brick, late Victorian styled Insurance Brokers building is characterised by a hipped roof form, together with a chamfered building corner that accentuates the corner location of the property. The roof form is clad in early green-painted galvanised corrugated iron. An early painted brick chimney with a corbelled top adorns the roofline. Narrow overhangs are features of the eaves.
Other early features of the design include the timber framed double hung windows with rendered masonry sills, timber framed doorway, and the quoinwork that emphasises the building corners. The projecting awnings and the signage have been introduced.
At the rear of the building is a skillion wing clad in galvanised corrugated iron and weatherboards.
