Statement of Significance
The house at 72 Wimmera Street, Stawell, has significance as a predominantly intact example of an early 20th century Federation style. Possibly built in the early 20th century, the house appears to be in good condition when viewed from the street.
The house at 72 Wimmera Street is historically and architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with residential developments in Stawell in the early 20th century, and it demonstrates original design qualities of an early 20th century Federation style. These qualities include the hipped and gabled roof forms, together with the verandah that projects towards the street frontage. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the single storey height, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, timber verandah posts, arched timber fretwork valances, timber framed double hung windows and window awnings clad in ripple iron and supported on timber brackets.
Overall, the house at 72 Wimmera Street is of LOCAL significance.

'Jenmar', 72 Wimmera Street, Stawell is set on a flat site at a deep setback from the street boundary in a garden setting. the Federations style house has hipped and gable roof forms clad in corrugated steel. The main roof extends to form verandahs. The verandah has arched timber valences supported on timber posts. The walls are clad in square edged weatherboards. There are timber framed double hung windows. The bank of windows in the gable end are protected by a window awning clad in ripple iron and supported on timber brackets. The house is enhanced by the garden setting.
