Manager's residence here from at least 1894. The Cleghorn tannery was started by Cleghorn, but later taken over by Hallenstein with Cleghorn remaining manager. The house was later replaced by a brick office in 1952. Further buildings to the north.
22-30 MORELAND STREET - Historical Significance
Cleghorn tannery associated with the Hallenstein tannery and form a huge tannery complex. Operated from the 1860's. Important early industry for Footscray. Noxious industry now phased out.
22-30 MORELAND STREET - Archaeological Significance
Currently a Beaurepaire centre here with a large asphalt carpark at the front. It is likey the remains of these earliest sites could be preserved beneath this carpark area.

22-30 MORELAND STREET - Heritage Inventory Description
Potential site of the manager's residence for the Cleghorn tannery dating to c.1894, later replaces by an office buildings for the tannery in 1952. Valuation records suggest the residence was a wood and brick building, 5 rooms (1901). The office was brick. Further buildings associated with the tannery north of this.
