Architecturally an important, extremely complete and rare example of medieval stylism in bank architecture which was designed by the prominent firm of Terry and Oakden and contributes to an important 19th centruy civic and commercial precinct: of State importance.Historically the first bank built in the middle Hawthorn and one of four built by the Bank since its establishment in 1852: regional importance.
